John Boyega Shared What He’d Have Done Had He Produced STAR WARS Sequels

It’s hard to believe it’s been a decade since *Star Wars: The Force Awakens* first hit theaters! Disney’s first venture back into that galaxy far, far away was a huge box office success, and most of the *Star Wars* films they’ve made have been profitable. However, not all of them were beloved by fans – in fact, many were quite divisive. This seems to be true for some of the actors as well, particularly John Boyega, who recently shared his thoughts on how things could have been done differently at a convention in Florida.

John Boyega, who became famous for his role in *The Force Awakens*, has often said he felt his character, Finn, was given less to do in the subsequent films, *The Last Jedi* and *The Rise of Skywalker*. He recently shared his thoughts on what he would change when asked by *Deadline*.

Boyega explained that he wouldn’t have removed established characters like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. He believes the focus should be on completing their stories and honoring their legacies, creating a smooth transition to the next generation of characters.

The actor explained that the new characters won’t immediately be experts. They’ll have to learn and struggle just like the established characters in the series, which he felt was important.

He later criticized some of Rian Johnson’s ideas about how Luke Skywalker used his Jedi powers.

I’d aim to build out the *Star Wars* universe as much as we can, but always in a way that honors what’s come before. Any new stories or additions would need to fit within the established rules and history.

Boyega explained that he didn’t think Luke Skywalker would simply vanish on a remote planet. He felt strongly that the character deserved a more substantial and impactful farewell, saying, ‘He wouldn’t just disappear like that. And to have him appear as a projection? I would have given those characters so much more.’

It’s easy to judge decisions after they’ve been made, especially with something as complex as a big franchise movie. These films involve countless choices, so it’s unfair to blame one or two people. John Boyega’s recent comments aren’t unique – other actors from the sequel trilogy have also expressed concerns. Hopefully, he’ll eventually feel satisfied with how things turned out.
