The last eight episodes of the NBC comedy starring Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani were never shown on American television. The show was canceled after its second season in 2006.
You can now watch all eight episodes on the official Friends YouTube channel, along with the other 38 episodes from the entire series.
I was really drawn into the story of Joey as he chased his acting dreams out in Hollywood. It was fun seeing him navigate that world and reconnect with his family – his sister Gina, who’s a total firecracker thanks to Drea de Matteo’s performance, and his incredibly smart nephew Michael, played by Paulo Costanzo. Plus, the show had some great supporting actors like Jennifer Coolidge and Andrea Anders, which always adds to the experience.
Shana Goldberg-Meehan and Scott Silveri, who also worked on Friends, created the show. The first episode attracted 18.6 million viewers, but viewership declined as the first and second seasons continued.
Kevin S. Bright, one of the executive producers and directors of Friends, recently explained what he believes caused difficulties during the show’s production.
In a 2006 interview with The Age, he explained that while Joey on ‘Friends’ was initially a charming character who enjoyed success with women, the show later changed him. He felt Joey was turned into someone unlucky in love and unable to find work, becoming a sad and helpless figure. He voiced his concerns about this direction, but his opinions weren’t taken into consideration.
