Joe Rogan is receiving backlash online due to a resurfaced clip from one of his podcasts where he discussed artificial intelligence.
A clip from an October episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, featuring actor Katee Sackhoff, is currently circulating on X. Many users are sharing it because they believe Joe Rogan’s opinions on artificial intelligence are inconsistent.
The Joe Rogan Experience, which started in 2009, is currently Spotify’s most popular podcast, attracting millions of listeners every month. Despite its widespread popularity, the show wasn’t included in the new podcast category the Golden Globes will introduce in 2026. This recent spotlight on podcasts has also resurfaced older episodes of the show for discussion.
During a conversation on the podcast, Joe Rogan and Katee Sackhoff discussed a movie her young daughter loves, called KPop Demon Hunters. Sackhoff really liked the film’s music, calling it “absolutely phenomenal,” and appreciated its positive message. She explained that the characters are voiced by actual musicians who also contributed to writing the songs.
As they talked, Rogan wondered if seeing live musicians would feel odd after getting used to animated characters performing the songs. He then jokingly suggested that AI creating the music might actually be better. Katee Sackhoff immediately disagreed, firmly stating that AI could never create better music. She playfully exclaimed that his suggestion had upset her deeply, saying, “You just broke my soul, Joe!”
Rogan argued that AI is already creating impressive music. Katee Sackhoff countered, pointing out that AI is also producing excellent podcasts. This made Rogan stop laughing, and he admitted he wasn’t so sure, before quickly moving on to a different topic.

Later in the podcast, Rogan shared one of his favorite songs: an AI-created rendition of 50 Cent’s “What Up Gangsta,” reimagined with a soulful sound.
Rogan admitted he preferred the AI-generated song over the original. Katee Sackhoff questioned him, wondering if 50 Cent could have made something similar if requested. Rogan agreed he probably could, but still found the AI version remarkable. He explained, “Even knowing it’s a trick, it still sounds amazing to me—that’s how good it is.”
The clip resurfaced this week when someone shared it on social media, noting that Joe Rogan recently discussed a similar idea on his podcast. They highlighted that Rogan seemed enthusiastic about AI-generated music but wasn’t impressed with the prospect of AI-created podcasts.
Joe Rogan recently discussed his enthusiasm for AI, particularly AI-generated music, on his podcast. When a guest suggested AI podcasts were also impressive, Rogan quickly disagreed, implying that people only appreciate AI until it potentially impacts them personally.

The conversation grew as more people chimed in. One user pointed out the irony that while many praise AI’s capabilities, they worry it might threaten their own jobs. Another commenter cautioned that AI could lead to creative professionals being replaced, simply because it offers a way to avoid paying them for their work.
I’ve been seeing this podcast clip all over my feed, and it’s really got me thinking. It’s sparked a huge debate about AI and creativity, and honestly, it makes you wonder where the line is. Even people who are normally all-in on AI seem to have limits when it comes to their own work, which is fascinating.
