Having followed their careers for years, I never imagined that Gaga would be playing Harley Quinn or that Phoenix could sing like an angel. The fact that he left Lady Gaga shocked with his vocal talent just makes their collaboration even more intriguing.
It came as a pleasant surprise to Lady Gaga when Joaquin Phoenix showcased his impressive singing abilities; it seemed she was unaware of the actor’s hidden vocal talent.
In an interview with Empire magazine, published on July 26 (Friday), the Joker (Phoenix) recounted Lady Gaga’s reaction when he first sang for her. He mentioned that she apparently spat out coffee upon hearing him sing, which he found exhilarating and boosted his self-confidence.
The Oscar-winning actor, who won for his role as the Joker, also thanked his co-star in Folie A Deux – Phoenix praised the singer for having the courage to follow his feelings and instincts throughout their collaboration.
Additionally, he pointed out that for someone not accustomed to such performances, it could feel awkward, yet incredibly thrilling.
