Jharrel Jerome, Miles G. Morales Voice Actor, Reveals He Hasn’t Recorded His Lines for ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ Yet

As a die-hard fan of the Spider-Verse franchise, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and curiosity as we wait for the third installment, ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse.’ The first two films have been nothing short of extraordinary, setting new standards for animated superhero movies. With its groundbreaking animation style, gripping storytelling, and an ensemble cast that brings each character to life, it’s no wonder the franchise has become a fan favorite.

Over the past few years, the Spider-Verse series has emerged as one of the most impressive animated superhero productions. The initial movie, ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,’ was a massive hit, and its follow-up, ‘Across the Spider-Verse,’ surpassed predictions by establishing several milestones.

This movie was Sony Pictures Animation’s first global release since “The Angry Birds Movie 2” in 2019. It garnered numerous positive reviews and grossed $690.5 million globally, outperforming its predecessor and ranking as the third-highest-grossing film in the U.S. for the year 2023.

Not only did it become the studio’s most financially successful movie to date, but it also clinched the title for Best Animated Film at the National Board of Review. To add to this, the American Film Institute even ranked it among the top 10 movies of the year 2023.

It’s common knowledge that by 2023, Chris Miller and Phil Lord had confirmed that ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse,’ being the third installment in the series, was already under development. They shared this information back then, stating that the team was actively working on the movie at full speed.

Currently, we’re busy bringing this project to life… We’re absolutely thrilled with how the narrative is unfolding, I believe it will make for an incredibly gratifying end to our trilogy, and it’s every bit as heartfelt as its predecessors… Needless to say, we’re fully immersed in it.

Recently, there were concerns raised about significant parts of the upcoming movie being discarded, but these claims have been found to be untrue. However, Jharrel Jerome, who plays Miles G. Morales in the franchise, has shared with Screen Rant that he hasn’t recorded his lines for the forthcoming film as of yet.

Apart from expressing some uncertainty regarding the specifics of the project, he’s clearly eager to get back into the role due to the palpable enthusiasm surrounding it. He’s also intrigued about how his character will evolve, given the thrilling turn of events involving him in the last movie.

Jharrel Jerome: I haven’t been privy to much information, but given how close-knit the production team is, I don’t have many details to share. In truth, I’m not any more informed than you are. However, I can’t wait to dive back into the show and discover what they have planned, particularly for my character. The last twist was simply incredible!

Twice now, the third installment has been postponed. Originally planned for a 2023 premiere, it was pushed back from that date to March 29, 2024, because of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Unfortunately, the movie didn’t make that deadline, and as of now, its release date remains undetermined.
