Jessie J Seems to Call Out Channing Tatum in Emotional New Track: ‘Karma Is Gonna Come One Day’

Jessie J seems to be referencing her breakup with Channing Tatum in a new song. At a recent listening event in London for her upcoming album, Don’t Tease Me with a Good Time, she played Threw It Away, a song that many believe is about their 2020 split, as reported by The Sun.

Jessie hinted at a past relationship while introducing a song she wrote in 2020 with Ryan Tedder, referring to her ex as a “beast” without naming him. According to The Sun, she encouraged the audience to guess who inspired the lyrics.

The song features lyrics like, “I laid my heart bare, and that’s when things got awkward, but you’ll eventually face the consequences for throwing my love away.” She continues with a defiant message, singing, “Don’t try to change the narrative – I’m the one who deserves the good ending, and you’re the villain.”

Jessie and Tatum began dating in late 2018, not long after Tatum separated from his wife, Jenna Dewan. They briefly broke up in December 2019, but got back together in January 2020. However, they eventually split up later that year. According to a source, the breakup was friendly, and they both agreed it was best to move forward, even though they still cared about each other.

During the event, Jessie also shared her experiences with her health. She revealed she had a mastectomy in June 2025 after being diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. According to The Sun, she said she felt thankful for the lessons she’d learned and the connection it gave her with others facing cancer. She also shared that going through this had made her a better parent and a better person.

Jessie and her boyfriend, Chanan Colman, welcomed their son, Sky Safir, in May 2023. Her new album, Don’t Tease Me with a Good Time, will be released on Friday, November 28th.
