Jessica Simpson Gets Candid About Her Split From Husband Eric Johnson: ‘Asked Personal Questions on Home Front’

Jessica Simpson‘s life experienced significant change after separating from her former spouse, Eric Johnson. She is now eagerly embarking on this new phase of her life as a “single woman”.

At the Luck Reunion music festival in Spicewood, Texas, during her first concert after fifteen years, the “With You” singer, aged 44, took a moment to contemplate how her life had transformed. As she unveiled her upcoming album, Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1 (set for release on March 21), Simpson confessed that during the creative process, she found herself in a receptive mindset, asking insightful questions about her personal life. It was then that she recognized the significant changes that had occurred.

She admitted to understanding the fragility that arises when one bares their feelings, acknowledging that it can occasionally result in pain. Moreover, she shared her belief that some individuals might not recognize their emotional distress has persisted over a prolonged period until they face and process their emotions.

Despite enduring pain, Simpson has discovered solace in music. She revealed that composing songs, singing, and introspection have aided her in finding solutions to her questions. Later, she presented her song “Leave,” describing it as a “heartbroken, angry tune” before performing it live. The track, which was released last week, contains lyrics hinting at Johnson potentially being unfaithful during their marriage. In the song, she sings about infidelity, solitude, and ultimately gaining self-reliance.

45-year-old Simpson and Johnson announced in January that they had ended their 10-year marriage. In a public statement, Simpson disclosed that they had been apart while dealing with their challenging circumstances. She made it clear that the wellbeing of their three children—Maxwell (12), Ace (11), and Birdie (5)—continues to be their top concern. Both parents are dedicated to ensuring what’s best for them moving forward.

Rumors about their split have been circulating for months, fueled by her lack of a wedding ring and recent reports. According to Page Six, Simpson’s upcoming EP is said to be deeply affected by their separation. The couple started dating in 2010 when Johnson was still married to his first wife, Keri D’Angelo. They finally tied the knot in 2014.

Prior to her marriage with Johnson, Simpson was once wedded to Nick Lachey from 2002 until 2006. Their relationship was well-documented during their MTV reality show “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.” Additionally, she has been associated romantically with Tony Romo, Adam Levine, Johnny Knoxville, and John Mayer.
