As a longtime fan and connoisseur of both gripping dramas and iconic musicians, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, “Deliver Me from Nowhere.” The casting choice of Jeremy Allen White as The Boss himself is nothing short of brilliant. White’s raw talent and ability to breathe life into complex characters has been evident in his work on shows like “The Bear” and “The Outsider,” making him the perfect fit for this challenging role.
Jeremy Allen White is swapping his chef’s apron for a guitar in his next project. This isn’t just any guitar, but one with significant historical importance. Known for his role as ‘The Bear’, White is set to portray The Boss himself in an upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic. A first glimpse of him embodying the legendary musician was recently shared by 20th Century Studios during the production kick-off of ‘Deliver Me from Nowhere’. This film will chronicle the life story of Bruce Springsteen.
Filming has commenced for director Scoot Cooper’s upcoming film, based on Warren Zanes’ book about the creation of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska. The movie, titled “Deliver Me from Nowhere,” will feature Emmy-winning actor Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen, a legendary figure in rock ‘n’ roll music. Previously, White portrayed another real person, Kerry Von Erich, in the film “The Iron Claw.
A glimpse at Allen White portraying The Boss offers little insight into the Bruce Springsteen biopic. However, it will not leave viewers in doubt about who they are watching among the celebrated stars. Instead, it initiates a mental association of the ‘The Bear’ actor as one of the most significant musicians in history.
In a statement for the media, Cooper discussed initiating the production process and shared his personal reasons behind the significance of this upcoming album:
Embarking on the making of this movie is both humbling and exhilarating. The album Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen has greatly influenced my artistic perspective. The album’s stark, unpolished depiction of life’s hardships and resilience strikes a chord with me. Our goal is to recreate that same essence, translating Warren Zanes’ captivating account of Bruce’s life into a movie that is genuine, inspiring, and respectful of Bruce’s legacy, providing an immersive cinematic adventure. It has been a privilege to work alongside Bruce and Jon [Landau] as we bring their story to life, and their creative spirit drives every aspect of this creative journey.
Besides Jeremy Allen White, the movie features Jeremy Strong portraying Jon Landau, Springsteen’s long-term mentor and manager. Paul Walter Hauser takes on the role of guitar tech Mike Batlan. Odessa Young is set to appear as Faye, a significant love interest in Springsteen’s life. Sir Stephen Graham will act as Springsteen’s father, while Johnny Cannizzaro has been cast as Stevie Van Zandt from The E Street Band.
The filming process has begun in both New Jersey and New York, as well as planned shoots in Los Angeles. Keep a lookout for upcoming sneak peeks of Jeremy Allen White’s portrayal of Bruce Springsteen!
