As someone who has grown up with the magic of Star Wars enchanting my imagination and filling my dreams, I must admit that I am beyond thrilled to see Jeremy Allen White join this iconic franchise. His talent and charisma are undeniable, as evidenced by his remarkable performance in The Bear, and I have no doubt he will bring Rotta the Hutt to life in a way that will leave us all awestruck.
Over time, the Star Wars universe expands further, and a fresh space opera tale is on its way. Recently, Jeremy Allen White, renowned for his performance in The Bear, has been added to the cast of this expansive, multigenerational franchise that features drones, aliens, and robots.
Initially, Deadline announced the news, indicating that the actor won’t merely appear briefly but will instead portray a substantial character in the production.
In the “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” film, Jeremy Allen White takes on the role of Rotta, a character known to some as the offspring of Jabba the Hutt.
Allen White is set to portray an interstellar villain, reminiscent of a huge, serpentine being with ominous eyes. As for Rotta the Hutt’s physical appearance, it remains undisclosed; however, rumors hint that the actor from The Iron Claw will lend his voice to a computer-generated character.
In case you didn’t know, various family members of Jabba the Hutt have made appearances across the Star Wars saga, featuring in shows like The Book of Boba Fett and films such as Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
In the earlier announcement about the Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’s cast, it was revealed that Pedro Pascal would be returning to play Mando, while Sigourney Weaver, famously known for her role in Ghostbusters, is also part of the ensemble.
Jon Favreau, known for directing “The Jungle Book,” is set to direct the next installment in the popular space opera movie series. Simultaneously, Dave Filoni will collaborate with him on the scriptwriting process.
Back in August, I had the privilege of witnessing the very first glimpse of Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu at the D23 Expo held at the Honda Center in Anaheim. For those who might not be familiar, this highly-anticipated event was graced by none other than Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni themselves.
Star Wars: Mandalorian & Grogu is scheduled to release on May 22, 2026.
