Jennifer Lopez Shares Her Top 4 Favorite Movies

I saw Letterboxd at the Governor’s Awards this year! They were interviewing all the stars about their top four favorite films, and they actually got to talk to Jennifer Lopez. It was pretty cool to watch!

J.Lo immediately listed her favorite romantic movies when asked, naming “West Side Story (1961), The Notebook, A Bronx Tale, and Prelude to a Kiss.”

I was so thrilled to see the incredible lineup at the Academy’s 2025 Governor Awards! It was amazing to be among stars like Chase Infiniti, Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Lopez, Lucy Liu, Eric Lin, Queen Latifah, and Mason Thames. A huge congratulations to Wynn Thomas, this year’s Governor Award recipient, and also to Paul Tazewell and Joseph Kosinski – what a fantastic night celebrating their achievements!

These films are all personally meaningful to her. She especially loves West Side Story, a timeless musical with both romance and dramatic moments, and has said it inspired her as a child to pursue a career in entertainment.

Jennifer Lopez has often said that Rita Moreno’s role in the musical inspired her to become a performer. Growing up, Lopez rarely saw Latinos represented on TV, and Moreno was the first celebrity she could truly relate to.

Both The Notebook and A Bronx Tale are beloved films. The Notebook is a classic, emotionally powerful love story, while A Bronx Tale is a moving coming-of-age story set in New York that explores family and important life lessons. Both are known for their strong acting and memorable scenes.

Prelude to a Kiss is a charming romantic fantasy that blends heartfelt emotions with intriguing concepts about love and who we are, reflecting Jennifer’s fondness for films that make you feel and think.
