Jennifer Lopez Never Found $68M Beverly Hills Mansion Appealing; Source Claims It Was Ben Affleck’s Pick

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the real estate choices made by celebrities can often provide fascinating insights into their personalities and preferences. The story of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s former Beverly Hills mansion is no exception.

Jennifer Lopez reportedly never took a liking to the Beverly Hills mansion she once shared with Ben Affleck, as a source told People. It appears that the $68 million property was primarily Affleck’s idea, according to the same source. The couple’s previous shared home, purchased for $60 million in 2023, went on the market less than two years later, in July 2024, amid ongoing speculation about their troubled marriage. Lopez eventually filed for divorce from Affleck, the Argo actor, in August.

According to People’s source, Lopez decided to buy the grand house primarily due to its expansive design, which was ideal for housing both her family and Affleck’s. With a sprawling area of 38,000 square feet, two separate entrances, 12 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, a well-equipped gym, a pickleball court, and office space, the property was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate Lopez’s teenage twins Max and Emme, whom she shares with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, as well as Affleck’s three children – Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel – whom he shares with his former wife Jennifer Garner.

According to the mentioned source, ultra-modern environments don’t seem to suit Lopez. Instead, she prefers an atmosphere that exudes a romantic, Spanish-influenced, European charm.

A different insider disputed the claim that Affleck had chosen the Beverly Hills mansion, which the couple are finding difficult to sell. Instead, this tipster asserted that Affleck had always preferred Brentwood since his children resided there. “It was quite a hassle and time-consuming for Ben to deal with traffic from their home. He never enjoyed it,” the source explained.

Affleck, who some might not be familiar with, has just splurged $20.5 million on a new residence in the same area. Meanwhile, he discreetly relocated his possessions from the property under discussion while the actress from Hustlers was away during summer vacation. This spacious five-bedroom house is versatile, being suitable for families but also adaptable as a bachelor pad, according to a previous source’s statement to People. The area is said to be inhabited by numerous A-list celebrities from the entertainment industry and prides itself on an upscale populace.

Jen, meanwhile, is still seeing houses to start afresh after her separation from Affleck.

In her divorce petition filed in August 20XX, Lopez asked the court to waive spousal support rights for both parties and also requested to restore her birth name. The singer marked April 26 as their separation date and, according to news outlets, they did not have a premarital agreement.

Although their personal relationship has concluded, Lopez and Affleck continue to collaborate professionally. The actress stars in two upcoming films, Unstoppable and Kiss of the Spider Woman, which are produced by Artists Equity, Affleck’s soon-to-be ex-wife’s production company. The first film, Unstoppable, is scheduled to debut at the Toronto Film Festival on September 6.

Lopez will probably go to this year’s film festival alongside Matt Damon, who is a close friend and business partner of Affleck from their earlier-mentioned production company. It seems that Affleck might not be present at the event.
