Jennifer Lopez Gushed About Using ‘Mrs. Affleck’ After Wedding to Ben Affleck

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Jennifer Lopez‘s decision to revert back to her maiden name is a testament to her strength, independence, and self-determination. In today’s world, it’s essential to prioritize one’s identity and values, especially in a relationship, and JLo has shown us that she’s not afraid to make bold moves.

After just two short years of marriage, the popular singer Jennifer Lopez and actor-filmmaker Ben Affleck are going through a painful divorce. In the midst of these difficult times, JLo has requested the court to take away her ex-husband’s surname, Affleck.

Following her marriage in Las Vegas, Nevada, in July 2022, the performer is seeking a court order to legally change her name from Jennifer Lynn Affleck to Jennifer Lynn Lopez, as reported by multiple media sources worldwide based on court records.

Previously, the 55-year-old Lopez couldn’t help but express her delight about becoming Affleck’s wife, referring to it as a “traditional” and “romantic” act. In an interview with Vogue in early November 2022, she stated, “I will still be known as Jennifer Lopez by many, but legally, I will be Mrs. Affleck because we are now united.”

In response to the question about her feelings towards her husband adopting her surname and being called Mr. Lopez at age 52, she made it clear that she doesn’t see this as a problem, but also emphasized that it is not conventional for her. She went on to say that there’s no romantic appeal in the idea, and instead, it feels like an assertion of power.

Speaking from my personal perspective, I strongly assert that I am the master of my journey and fate. This realization fills me with a profound sense of empowerment, not only as a woman but also as an individual. However, I respect that everyone’s feelings about this matter may differ. Yet, when it comes to my viewpoint, I find it enchanting and steeped in tradition and romance. In essence, I am the embodiment of a woman who cherishes these sentiments.

In the year 2001, during the filming of Gigli, Affleck and Lopez first became a couple. By November 2002, they were engaged. However, their relationship ended in 2003, and both moved on to other partners. Eventually, they remarried. The media coined their relationship “Bennifer” back in the early 2000s. Twenty years later, in July 2022, they got married again in Las Vegas. This was followed by a grand wedding in Georgia exactly two years ago, on August 20, 2022. The Bennifer fans are overjoyed at their reunion and remarriage.

Jennifer Lopez, the renowned music producer, announced in her July 2022 “On the JLo” newsletter that she had adopted her husband’s last name, becoming Jennifer Lynn Affleck shortly after their marriage. When JLo and Ben Affleck got engaged in the early 2000s, she expressed her intention to take his surname. In July 2003, she openly shared with Access Hollywood that she desired to be known as Jennifer Affleck and intended to change her name on all her official documents.

Two summers ago, I initiated the divorce proceedings from Affleck, as we’d been living apart for quite some time before the news broke. In fact, we’d already sold our house in Beverly Hills a couple of months earlier. These events all unfolded at the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
