Jennifer Lawrence Said Her First NSFW Scene Was Bizarre

As a devoted fan of Jennifer Lawrence, it’s always fascinating to delve deeper into her personal experiences and understand the woman behind the star. Her candid confession about filming her first sex scene in Passengers offers an insightful glimpse into the often overlooked challenges actresses face in Hollywood.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve always admired Jennifer Lawrence’s stellar acting career. Among her numerous roles, some performances have left an indelible mark on me and fellow fans, standing the test of time.

Supporters of the actress are well aware that she has willingly taken on bold, explicit roles, and her career has been marked by these instances. However, it’s important to note that while her willingness to participate in such scenes might suggest comfort or a lack of industry influence in a negative manner, this is not entirely accurate. The reality is more complex.

In our recent discovery, we’ve unearthed an old interview featuring Lawrence where she opens up about her initial on-screen intimate scene, a moment that was both accurate yet peculiar for the actress. We firmly believe it is important to make this account public, as it underscores the stressful nature of such experiences and highlights the challenging times that even seasoned actors and actresses may face in their careers.

The interview, which was more accurately described as a confession, was included in THR’s annual Actress Roundtable in 2015. During this gathering, various subjects were discussed. One topic that emerged was the most peculiar action they had to perform for a movie, and this is what Lawrence shared about her experience:

Have you said no to doing something onscreen?

LAWRENCE: I don’t think so. I mean, I’ve skinned a squirrel.

Not a real squirrel?

LAWRENCE: Absolutely, it was a genuine squirrel. I didn’t harm it. Not yet, at least. Recently, I experienced my first real sex scene [while filming Passengers with Chris Pratt], and let me tell you, it was quite unusual. It felt very odd.

BLANCHETT: When you say “real” sex scene, do you mean penetration or …? (Laughter.)

LAWRENCE: Yes, I appreciate your explanation. It was quite unusual. Despite everything being properly handled, there were no mistakes made, it was simply an odd occurrence.

How do you prepare for that?

LAWRENCE:I had some drinks which led me to become very intoxicated. This caused more anxiety when I returned home as I found myself wondering, “What have I done? I’m not sure.” The man was married, and this was supposed to be my first time kissing a married person. Guilt is an awful sensation in the stomach, and that’s exactly how I felt.

In that moment, I recognized it as my duty, yet I struggled to convey that to my feelings, so instead, I reached out to my mom and asked her for reassurance. It was a very exposed and uncertain situation. You never know where the line is drawn. You want things to be genuine, you want everything to feel real, but then… That was the most exposed I’ve ever felt.

The film Lawrence mentioned is titled “Passengers,” a movie that stirred much debate, which Lawrence himself later discussed rather negatively. To put it bluntly, he didn’t have positive things to say about it. A particularly contentious moment in the film is when… (followed by the description of the controversial scene)

One positive aspect of the incident was that all parties involved conducted themselves professionally, and the actress found the experience tolerable. However, this account should serve as proof to those who underestimate or romanticize such experiences, believing they are effortless or enjoyable. It is crucial to remember that even major film stars can face stressful situations. This matter requires sensitivity and awareness, with the hope that future changes will make these circumstances more favorable.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that Chris Pratt, in the past, also spoke about that particular scene. He admitted it required extensive preparation, but it appeared that like many others, he too wasn’t entirely grasping the struggles Lawrence was experiencing at that time.

Before working on Passengers, I had no personal encounter with Jen. Yet, I was familiar with her work. However, since we started working together right away, our first real meeting occurred at her home during a table read with the director. It was there that we developed a strong bond over the script and its story.

Working in tandem, given our limited cast in this film, we developed a strong camaraderie while based in Atlanta. Sharing a common fondness for Dumb & Dumber, our friendship blossomed much like jokes and the ebb and flow of life. Above all else, it seemed that your main objective was to ensure a comfortable environment for your partner. When she expressed a desire for wine, we obliged, making for a pleasant evening together.
