Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Her Favorite Comedy Movie of All Time

Jennifer Lawrence proved she was a major talent when she won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in the popular 2012 film, Silver Linings Playbook. The award showed she could be both hilarious and deeply moving.

Even in her funniest roles, there’s often a hint of sadness or a commentary on difficult issues. While Lawrence has created many memorable scenes herself, she greatly admires the comedic actors who inspired her.

She once shared five films that particularly shaped her understanding of humor. Along with favorites like The Big Lebowski by the Coen brothers and the cult classic Harold and Maude, one movie especially captivated her.

The movie we’re talking about is the 2004 film I Heart Huckabees, a quirky and thought-provoking comedy starring Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin as “existential detectives.” Jennifer Lawrence has often talked about how much she loves the film, saying she was completely captivated by it when she first saw it and even watched it four times in one week. She often cautions her friends that it’s a strange movie and they might not enjoy it, but she still considers it her favorite comedy.

Jennifer Lawrence is having a fantastic year professionally, all while adjusting to life with her second child, born in 2025. She’s receiving praise and a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the new psychological thriller, Die My Love, which came out in November 2025. The film, directed by Lynne Ramsay and starring alongside Robert Pattinson, shows Lawrence’s acting skills as she portrays a woman losing her grip on reality in a secluded countryside setting.

Fans are also excited about her return to The Hunger Games franchise. Lawrence will reprise her famous role as Katniss Everdeen in a special scene for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, set to release on November 20th. The movie introduces Joseph Zada as a young Haymitch Abernathy and also stars Maya Hawke and Ralph Fiennes, among others.

Beyond returning to big-budget films, Jennifer Lawrence will soon be working with Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio on their new movie, What Happens at Night. She’s also taking on a project for Apple called The Wives, a murder mystery she’s both producing and starring in, and which draws inspiration from the Real Housewives series. She’s producing it through her company, Excellent Cadaver.
