Jennifer Lawrence says she’s grown tired of talking to the press.
In a recent interview with The New Yorker, the Academy Award-winning actress shared how exhausting interviews can be. She told Viola Davis that she often feels a loss of control over her work when promoting a film, saying, “I always think, ‘I can’t put myself through this again.’”
Lawrence reflected on how she presented herself in previous interviews, admitting she now cringes at her past behavior, describing it as overly energetic and embarrassing. While fans used to appreciate her humor and authenticity, some online recently started to wonder if her personality was actually real.
She explained that her behavior was both a genuine part of who she was, and a way to protect herself. She described it as a defense, almost like deliberately exaggerating flaws to say, ‘I’m not perfect! I’m just a normal person with imperfections!’
Jennifer Lawrence also talked about Ariana Grande’s 2016 impression of her on Saturday Night Live, admitting it was surprisingly accurate. “When I watch those interviews, I find that person really annoying,” she said. “I understand why people got tired of seeing that persona everywhere. Ariana’s impression on SNL really nailed it.”
I recently spoke with the actress, and she opened up about the impact of recent criticism. It wasn’t about her work, or even her views, she explained. It felt deeply personal – a rejection of her, as a person. She struggled to put it into words, saying she felt – or rather, was – rejected for who she is, not what she does or believes.
Lawrence appears to be proactively managing her career and how the public sees her. She’s being selective about what she shares with the media, prioritizing her work and personal life.
