Imagine a world where Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson teamed up for a sweeping romance. They certainly have the talent and charisma to be a captivating on-screen couple. However, the film they actually made is something quite different. The trailer for their new movie, *Die My Love*, reveals a chilling story of how a loving marriage can descend into a terrifying cycle of hatred and madness.
Hatred and possible violence.
There’s something captivating about a story that starts out pleasant and then takes a surprisingly dark turn. We especially enjoy it when things go completely wild and unpredictable, and this trailer definitely delivers that feeling – anything could happen!
I keep asking myself what’s truly going on in this story, and what’s just a descent into isolation. Is it reality, or is this person completely lost, both physically and mentally? Mubi describes the film like this:
I’m really concerned about Grace. She’s a talented writer and a mom, but she’s struggling – things are just falling apart for her. She’s living out in Montana, and I’m watching her become more and more unstable, and it’s heartbreaking to see. Her partner, Jackson, is doing his best, but he’s feeling lost and helpless as he watches her slip away.
Lynne Ramsay, known for films like *We Need To Talk About Kevin* and *You Were Never Really Here*, directs this movie. She co-wrote the script with Enda Walsh and Alice Burch. The story is adapted from Ariana Harwicz’s 2012 novel, *Matate, amor*. The film features performances by Lakeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte, Sissy Spacek, Gabrielle Rose, Debs Howard, Sarah Lind, and Marcus Della Rosa.
The film *Die My Love* premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in April of this year. It will be released in theaters on November 7th, so audiences outside of the festival will have to wait a little longer to see it. Just try to stay patient until then!
