Jennifer Garner shared how she got “Marvel fit” to reprise her role as Elektra

On August 5th, Garner shared an Instagram video showcasing her intense training regimen for reprising her role after almost two decades. She also recounted the time when Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool in the movie) and director Shawn Levy proposed the idea of Elektra appearing in the sequel alongside Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who is famously known as Wolverine.

Reflecting back, the spark for Elektra Natchios’ appearance in Deadpool 3 ignited on the set of The Adam Project. A glance between Slevydirect and Vancityreynolds, a look that speaks volumes – it could be a conversation, a secret code, or even nuclear instructions. There’s an incredible artistic synergy between these two creative minds. As for me, since 2004, I’ve seldom wielded Elektra’s sais, but convincing my kids’ preschool friends that I was a covert ninja has been a regular pastime. However, getting in Marvel shape at this stage of life, with its unique blend of agility and grace, is quite the challenge! 🥷🏻👵🏼

She expressed that what was once considered an unattainable goal, turned into a lived reality for her and her longtime friend and fellow stunt double Shauna Duggins. They increased their training sessions with Beth Nicely at @thelimitfit from one to two per day, and were additionally given extra assignments for additional workouts. Their boxing sessions became three times a week, accompanied by numerous other exercises and running. She described their summer as a “Superhero Summer,” where they’d twirl sais in the backyard and chuckle at their weary old bodies.

Regarding the comeback of her character, she expressed, “I didn’t realize Elektra and I needed a conclusion, but Shawn and Ryan certainly did. They excel in numerous areas, but their ability to spot and amplify talent is unparalleled. They are simply amazing! Filming the fight was exhilarating, having everyone there together felt like a dream. I’m proud of my friends and honored to stand alongside them. Thank you doesn’t seem sufficient, but it’s a decent substitute until I find the right words.” In her post, she also expressed admiration for her co-stars Hugh Jackman, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatum, and Wesley Snipes. “The fight scene was so much fun, being there with everyone – truly like a dream. I’m proud of my friends and grateful to be up there with them. ‘Thank you’ doesn’t quite cut it, guys, but it’s a good place holder until I figure out what does. ⚔️♥️”
