As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for celebrity connections and a rich background in pop culture analysis, I find it fascinating to see Jennifer Lynn Affleck, the new Jenny from the block, confessing that she has never met her husband’s famous cousin, Ben Affleck. It seems that life as Jennifer Affleck has always been an intriguing mix of coincidences and connections.
As a follower eagerly anticipating the release of Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives starring Jennifer Lynn Affleck on September 6, I must share that in contrast to common belief, I, Jennifer Affleck, have never had the pleasure of meeting my husband’s illustrious cousin, Ben Affleck. In an interview with People, this MomToker, who recently referred to herself as the “new Jenny from the block,” humorously added that being Jennifer Affleck has always been quite intriguing. She even jokingly asserted her status as the original JLo.
“She pointed out that her name is not just Jen or Jennifer, but specifically Jennifer Lynn Affleck – similar to JLo. Interestingly, she used to be Jennifer Lynn Lopez, but after marrying Ben, she became Jennifer Lynn Affleck. This seems strange, she said, because the singer and actress is now asking the court to restore her maiden name in her divorce proceedings from the two-time Oscar winner.”
“People are very curious and wondering how we’re related, and it’s so funny,” Jennifer said.
About the family ties of the Argo actor, Jennifer mentioned, “He’s my husband’s first cousin, but we haven’t had a chance to meet him yet.”
For the uninitiated, let me clarify that Zac is Ben’s first cousin, but one generation removed. This means their fathers are first cousins. In this case, Zac’s father is Dave Affleck, who shares a common grandparent with both Ben and Casey Affleck.
“Jennifer mentioned that Zac’s father had met them when Ben was quite small. She expressed her hope to meet him someday.”
At the show’s debut, according to People, Jennifer expressed a desire to learn what Casey and Ben Affleck think about her program, as she wishes to engage with them regarding their connection.
“They can tell me how the show is,” she said.
Back in September of 2022, when Bennifer sealed their love twice – once at the whimsical Vegas chapel and again at Affleck’s grand Georgia estate – I, a devoted fan with an audience of 1.4 million on TikTok, couldn’t help but express my feelings. In a video, I pretended to be dismayed by Jennifer adopting her husband’s surname, which somehow made our shared moniker feel just a bit less special.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premieres on Friday, September 6, on Hulu.
