Jeff Goldblum’s Method Acting Backfired On Death Wish Set: Why The Director Requested Him To Take A Shower

As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for Hollywood tales, I must say Jeff Goldblum’s journey is one that never ceases to intrigue me. His method acting antics, as seen in Death Wish, are a testament to his dedication to his craft, albeit a bit misguided in this instance. However, the lesson he learned about personal hygiene in close-knit workspaces is a valuable one that I’d like to reiterate: “In show business or any collaborative, close area, keep your hygiene up – unless you want to be known as ‘the smelly actor.’

During the initial stages of filming his prominent movie, titled “Death Wish,” starring Charles Bronson, Jeff Goldblum found himself immersed in the production. Unfortunately, this production encountered some criticism during filming. In an interview with People magazine, the native Pennsylvanian, Goldblum, tried unsuccessfully to employ method acting, a move that didn’t turn out as planned.

In preparation for his character as a threatening street tough in the movie, Goldblum deliberately went without showering for several days. As he hails from Pittsburgh and is generally well-mannered, he felt it necessary to assume a more menacing demeanor for the role, stating, “I had to embody this dangerous street criminal.

In simpler terms, Goldblum remembered the assistant director saying something like, “Jeff, it’s cramped here and your scent is strong. Could you please take care of it?” This incident served as a valuable learning experience for him.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to emphasize the importance of maintaining good personal hygiene, especially when working in close-knit environments such as show business. This is a valuable piece of advice I’ve picked up from my current role as the Wizard of Oz in the hit film Wicked.

In an interview, the actor shared some insights about his household rules with four members – himself, his wife Emilie (a former Olympic rhythmic gymnast), and their sons Charlie, 9, and River, 7. He emphasized the importance of trusting the person in charge when you’re not, humorously clarifying that he wasn’t referring to Bruce Springsteen.

Regarding his collaboration with John M. Chu on the recent production starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo titled Wicked, he referred to it as an unexpectedly fortunate event.

He pointed out that a film can’t be excellent unless the overall production is, and crafting a good movie can be challenging even with a talented director. He also expressed his gratitude for having such an experience. “Jon created a truly stunning film, and I feel honored to be part of it,” he concluded.

Wicked is currently available in theaters.
