Jax Taylor Reveals Having Bipolar Disorder And PTSD After Receiving Month-Long Mental Health Treatment

As a dedicated follower of Vanderpump Rules and a keen observer of the lives of reality TV stars, I must say that Jax Taylor’s recent revelation about his mental health is both heartbreaking and inspiring. It’s heartbreaking because no one should have to go through the turmoil he has experienced, but it’s also inspiring because he’s taking charge of his life and seeking help.

Jax Taylor is discussing the insights he’s gained about his mental health following a month-long stay at a treatment center. In a post on Instagram on August 2, the former Vanderpump Rules cast member, aged 45, disclosed that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD. He admitted that accepting this diagnosis has been an intense emotional process for him.

About a month ago, Taylor admitted himself into a thorough residential rehabilitation center, filled with apprehension about the unknown and anxious to discover more about his inner self, as expressed in the caption of his post accompanied by a monochrome photograph of him reading. “For many years, I’ve sensed that something was amiss but couldn’t pinpoint the exact issue,” he confessed. “However, only recently did I receive a diagnosis: Bipolar Disorder and PTSD.”

Despite finding the knowledge about his mental health status overwhelming, the reality star expressed that this revelation brought him a “newly discovered tranquility” upon reuniting with his son. Admittedly fearful about what his diagnosis might mean for the future, Taylor stated his immediate goal would be to strive towards becoming an improved version of himself.

He remarked that managing mental health throughout one’s life is like an ongoing struggle against its dominance and instead gaining the power to manage it oneself. Before concluding, he expressed gratitude towards those who bravely shared their personal battles with mental health.

On Tuesday, August 20th, according to TMZ’s report, Taylor concluded a 30-day period of care at a mental health wellness center.

At a delicate moment in his family life, it was revealed that Taylor chose to address his personal problems. This decision came into light about four years after he married Brittany Cartwright, when she filed for divorce on August 27th. This filing occurred approximately six months following the couple’s decision to spend time apart, as stated in court documents reviewed by People. The separation was officially dated as January 24th, and their divorce papers cited “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of their split.

In her filing as reported by the publication, Cartwright asked for both legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old son, Cruz Michael Cauchi. However, she proposed that Taylor be given visitation rights. Moreover, she requested the court to end spousal support obligations for both parties.

Taylor and Cartwright’s relationship has been showcased on Vanderpump Rules and its spin-offs Jax & Brittany Take Kentucky, as well as The Valley. For those unfamiliar with reality television, the couple first met in Las Vegas in 2015, and they got married in June 2019. Their son was born in April 2021.

In August 2023, they shared their aspirations to grow their family further. Taylor stated his desire for another child, at minimum. Yet, he also admitted that they, being Taylor and Cartwright, found themselves quite occupied, making such a plan challenging at the moment.

In March, the first season of “The Valley” was released, showcasing the struggles faced by the couple during a challenging period. Specifically, Cartwright became upset because Taylor hadn’t begun attempts to conceive a second child.

According to a report from People, he is set to reappear for the second season of the reality show, during which Kristen Doute (formerly of VPR) and new cast members Luke Broderick, Jesse Lally, Danny Booko, Nia Booko, Michelle Lally, Jason Caperna, and Janet Caperna are also expected.

Brittany, however, isn’t interested in having anything to do with him, according to the source.
