Great news for all AFC Richmond fans! The heartwarming series ‘Ted Lasso’ is set to return for a fourth season. The talented Jason Sudeikis, who brings our beloved coach to life, has confirmed his involvement, taking on the roles of both star and executive producer. Apple TV+ has given the go-ahead, and I can hardly wait to join you all in discovering where this tale takes us next.

Ever since its release in 2020, this series has been a smashing success, offering us three heartwarmingly funny seasons. In the show, Sudeikis portrays Ted, an unexpectedly transatlantic American football coach who finds himself leading a British soccer team. As Season 3 drew to a close, Ted departed London for Kansas, where he now coaches his son’s youth team. Rumor has it that the upcoming season will start with scenes shot in Kansas (perhaps even Kansas City), before Ted returns once more to the UK.

The main actors are coming together well. Hannah Waddingham, playing team owner Rebecca, is already confirmed. So too are Brett Goldstein as the rough-around-the-edges Roy Kent and Jeremy Swift as the eccentric Leslie Higgins. Juno Temple, everyone’s favorite Keeley, is in discussions to rejoin, though they seem determined to make it possible. These individuals form the core of Richmond’s management team, and I’m delighted we’ll see them again.

For a few months now, the writing team has been diligently crafting scripts. Jason Sudeikis, alongside Jack Burditt, is overseeing the show; Burditt is a seasoned comedy writer known for his work on ‘Modern Family’ and ’30 Rock’. The production team hopes to kick off in July, and they’re preparing to introduce some fresh talent to keep things interesting. Everything seems to be falling into place swiftly.

In a playful manner, Sudeikis hinted at an upcoming adventure for the Richmond group, suggesting they’ll be encouraged to ‘take a leap before they look’. This seems like an exciting departure from the norm, implying they might be embarking on something daring or risky. It could possibly relate to the women’s team concept that Rebecca and Keeley proposed in the Season 3 finale; I’m curious to see how that storyline unfolds.

Despite Ted’s departure from coaching the men’s team, the narrative continues to center on the club. It appears that the storyline is now shifting towards management rather than the players, offering a new perspective after three seasons filled with locker room conflicts.

The team features familiar faces alongside a few unknowns. Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) hasn’t signed an acting contract yet, but he’s been collaborating with Sudeikis and Goldstein on scripts. Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt) might have limited appearances due to his commitment to a new, unnamed HBO series. There’s hope that Nick Mohammed’s character Nate could reappear – let’s keep our fingers crossed.

The popular TV show ‘Ted Lasso’ has amassed a total of 13 Emmys, with two going to the best comedy series category.
