Jason Segel Recalls Hilarious Incident With Co-Star Brett Goldstein While Filming Their Apple TV+ Show Shrinking

As a dedicated fan of both Jason Segel and Brett Goldstein, I must say that their collaboration on Shrinking has been nothing short of captivating. Having followed their careers for quite some time, I was eagerly anticipating their first on-screen encounter, especially given their unique creative partnership.

Jason Segel and Brett Goldstein teamed up as co-creators for Apple TV+ series “Shrinking,” with Goldstein subsequently joining the show’s cast for season 2, debuting in October. Despite working together professionally, Segel and Goldstein had never appeared on screen together before, not knowing each other’s personality. Although their initial scene was quite intense, it surpassed expectations when it came to the final result.

On my inaugural day of filming, I found myself in a pivotal scene alongside a talented actor from How I Met Your Mother. His character, understandably distressed by something I had done in the past, was giving me a piece of his mind. “I’ve come to apologize,” I explained, only to be met with a torrent of harsh words and expletives, as I reminisced during my chat on Late Night with Seth Meyers on November 14.

Goldstein reminisced about the situation escalating as Segal bellowed loudly. However, he shared that during breaks in filming, Segal would spit so excessively at him that the continuity crew expressed concern, saying something like, “This is too much spit! We need to address this issue.” The actor disclosed this fact.

The talk show host made a joke about having a “team for dealing with spitting,” which Goldstein humorously referred to as being covered in it. In addition, Goldstein mentioned his enthusiasm for appearing on screen after working behind the camera during the first season. Unsurprisingly, Segel had anticipated this situation.

At the start of this season, someone mentioned that Brett is more than capable and I had a feeling he really wanted to play that role. And, honestly, I thought he’d excel at it. Goldstein portrayed Louis Winston, the man responsible for Segel’s character’s wife’s tragic accident.

In simpler terms, “Jason Segel mentioned that he’s had extensive experience playing Marshall Erickson on ‘How I Met Your Mother’, and subsequently portraying other characters to be recognized for. He acknowledges that character Roy Kent likely encounters similar challenges in this regard.

New episodes of Shrinking premieres every Wednesday Apple TV+.
