Jason Momoa Teases Lobo: David Leitch Wants To Direct

Jason Momoa is still excited about being chosen as the primary character in the DC Universe, and it’s been revealed that director David Leitch is interested in working with Momoa on a Lobo film.

In a more straightforward and conversational style, Jason Momoa shared a video featuring himself and revealed a glimpse of the Supergirl script with the caption: “Day 3 out of 2025! Here comes Lobo… Let’s go fraggaging, aloha j.

David Leitch commented: “Hey @prideofgypsies and @davidmleitch, how about a Lobo solo film? I’m game! It’s a tale we’ve been destined to share. This character really resonates with us.

Leitch has mentioned twice that he desires to work with Lobo. Notably, Leitch is the director behind films such as “Fall Guy”, “Bullet Train”, “Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw”, “Deadpool” 2, and “Atomic Blonde”. Additionally, he produced the successful action film “John Wick”.

Supergirl getting an injection of testosterone

At the brink of the New Year, news broke out that Jason Momoa will be taking on the role of Lobo for the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film, with production set to begin this month. As yet, no concrete details about Lobo’s storyline have been revealed. However, it is known that the original intention of the comic book writer, who is consulted by James Gunn, was to incorporate Lobo in the narrative, but his editors initially opposed the idea.

It’s plausible that Momoa and Lobo have been chosen for the Supergirl movie to provide a boost of masculinity, which could help draw in comic book enthusiasts, if James Gunn and his team are aiming for this demographic.

As a fan, I must confess that the girls didn’t seem too interested in watching Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, or Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel. Nor did they show up for Madame Web. Given the uncertainty around Supergirl appealing to audiences like Barbie or Wicked, it seems Gunn is counting on the male audience to step up. Fortunately, we’ve got Jason Momoa as Lobo, and I certainly hope he’ll draw them in!

In a thrilling turn of events, I’m excited to announce that “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” will hit theaters on June 26, 2026, with the talented Craig Gillespie at the helm as director. Ana Nogueira has penned an engaging script for this upcoming masterpiece. The star-studded cast includes Milly Alock brilliantly portraying Supergirl, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, and Matthias Schoenaerts bringing the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills to life. Can’t wait to witness the extraordinary adventures that await!
