Since then, she has dressed up as The Grinch, a Frankenstein character, Leeloo Dallas Multi-Pass (Diva Plavalaguna) from The Fifth Element, and the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. This year, she outdid herself by portraying an exceptionally authentic version of E.T., the Extraterrestrial.

Janelle Monáe unveiled her eerie yet intricate E.T. costume on the October 30th episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show.” Both the singer and show host were left in awe and slightly unsettled. In a series of photos that Monáe posted on social media, it was revealed that she not only dressed up as E.T., but also as E.T.’s companion, Elliot. She even reenacted the famous “flying against the full moon” scene from the 1982 Steven Spielberg film. Remarkably, this iconic scene transpires on Halloween night. Though E.T. may not be a horror character in the traditional sense, he undeniably embodies the essence of a Halloween icon.
In a recent Instagram post, Monáe penned “At last, you’ve returned. Welcome back, E.T. A big thank you to Google Maps for the guidance. I played dual roles as both E.T. and Janellllliott.” Apart from intricate costumes, this Grammy-nominated artist/singer is a huge fan of Halloween. She even created her own haunt at this year’s LA Haunted Hayride – Monáe Manor. Moreover, she hosted FearFest on AMC, demonstrating her passion for everything eerie and ghoulish. It seems that the E.T. costume might be tough to surpass, but we have a hunch she’ll come up with something equally impressive next year.
