Recently, Jamie Lee Curtis chatted with Entertainment Tonight during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, where she shared her feelings about receiving the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Donna Berzatto in The Bear.

During her interview with the media outlet, Curtis discussed her marriage to actor-director Christopher Guest. When questioned about the key to their enduring partnership, the Freaky Friday star expressed, “One simply doesn’t exit,” further explaining, “I’ve been sober for a considerable period as well. In recovery, we have a saying: ‘Remain on the bus, and the landscape will transform.’ That’s marriage.

The actress explained that there are instances when it seems as though you could dislike one another, but the subsequent day may offer delightful experiences, akin to a beautiful sunny day or a heartwarming action by a pet or child. She added, “In those moments, you both might express something like, ‘Oh, how sweet!’ And then, it’s as if you’ve switched to a different path.

Curtis underscored that the key to preserving their relationship lies in “endurance, tolerance, kindness, and a substantial measure of understanding.” She clarified that it’s inevitable for couples to feel frustrated or resentful at times, but what truly matters is not letting those feelings drive decisions that could lead to future “remorse.” In essence, she believes that this is the secret.

Back in 2022, as reported by People magazine, Jamie Lee Curtis shared the story of her first encounter with her husband. In an essay she wrote for the publication, she reminisced about spotting him when she was alongside the writer of the original Halloween movie.

In 1984, Curtis remembered sitting on the couch in West Hollywood with Debra Hill. She pointed out that during this time, she flipped open a Rolling Stone magazine to find Christopher Guest highlighted in an article about “Spinal Tap”. It was at that moment, she recollected, that she made up her mind to marry him, exclaiming, “I’m going to marry that man.” And six months later, as she shared, that is exactly what she did.
