As someone who has followed Hoda Kotb’s inspiring journey on the Today Show for years, it’s bittersweet to see her prepare for her departure. The bond between Hoda and Jamie Lee Curtis is a testament to their shared strength, resilience, and dedication to their roles as mothers and public figures.

During the most recent episode of the Today Show, Jamie Lee Curtis left Hoda Kotb in tears. On air, Curtis handed Kotb a touching letter that she then read aloud, causing the journalist to become emotional.

Haley, who is 60 years old, shared that she plans to step down from her talk show by September. This move allows her more time for her children and family. She’ll be wrapping up filming for the final episodes in January 2025.

During Lee Curtis’s appearance, the actress expressed her regret at no longer working alongside the host, stating that this was their final shared screen moment together.

In her note, the True Lies actress expressed, “Oh, Hoda, this isn’t true! I find it unbearable. I simply cannot bear it.” She also wrote, “I find it hard to accept that this will be our final goodbye.

In simpler terms, the actress conveyed her feelings for Kotb by using colors and explaining their symbolic meanings. Curtis remarked, “It’s fitting that we’re both wearing purple,” to which the actress replied, “Purple signifies a wound, so today I have a wound in my heart with you.” Both of them were dressed in purple.

Simultaneously, the actress from Trading Places noted that she observed Kotb arriving at work at 7:22 a.m., and ensuring her children were fine by video calling them.

She also added, “You’re truly a gem, and we’ll all dearly miss your presence here. It’s hard for me to envision this place without you, so I felt compelled to share these thoughts with you.

Hoda remained quiet, visibly moved, frequently dabbing her eyes and placing a hand over her heart. Following a brief pause, the talk show host expressed her gratitude, saying, “Firstly, I want to express my deepest appreciation from within my heart. I’m also grateful for the thoughtful note you shared with me.

The letter that the actress publicly read was initially dispatched to Hoda Kotb’s home in September, following her announcement of departure. Unfortunately, it didn’t make it to the journalist because she had already relocated to the outskirts by then.
