Oh, my dear Disney-loving, Freaky Friday-obsessed soul, where do I even begin? This news about the long-awaited sequel to one of my all-time favorite films has sent me into a whirlwind of pure joy and excitement!
The long-awaited sequel to Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis‘ Freaky Friday, titled “Freakier Friday,” has officially been announced! During the D23 Expo presentation, Disney Studios hinted at the movie’s title. Production for the fantasy comedy sequel, set to begin in June 2024, will see Lindsay Lohan reprise her role as Anna Coleman and Jamie Lee Curtis returning as Tess Coleman, her mother.
Based on Deadline’s reports, Lindsay Lohan and Paddy Curris attended the D23 fan event in Anaheim, California on Friday, August 9. During this event, Lohan spoke about the Irish Wish movie, expressing her enthusiasm for the project by saying it’s “more enjoyable” and “more emotional.” She explained that their return to this film is due to the affection they’ve received from fans throughout the years. Meanwhile, Curtis shared that working together on the sequel feels like resuming where they left off, which he found “really beautiful.”
As a lifestyle expert looking back, I’ve always been intrigued by the concept of Freaky Friday – a tale that explores identity crises in an unexpected twist. Now, in the upcoming sequel, Freakier Friday, we find ourselves years later as Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) face another unforeseen situation. This time, they’ve both grown, with Anna now raising a daughter and on the brink of becoming a stepmother to another young girl.
Nisha Ganatra is currently working as director for the upcoming sequel of Freaky Friday, a script penned by Jordan Weiss. In the meantime, Disney Studios has unveiled a teaser trailer for this movie on their Instagram page, with the accompanying caption, “Things are getting even more strange! The highly anticipated film #FreakierFriday, featuring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, will be hitting theaters in 2025.”
As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be joining an impressive cast in our upcoming movie. Notable names like Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan will grace the screen alongside me. Additionally, we have Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Stephen Tobolowsky, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Julia Butters, and Rosalind Chao joining us on this exciting journey!
In an earlier conversation with Good Morning America, Lohan shared her views on the upcoming sequel. She hinted to the publication that the film will be more “unusual” than fans might anticipate. The actress expressed that working with the cast again is a real “joy” and that it’s wonderful to have such a pleasant work environment, highlighting the fact that everyone aims to enjoy themselves, making it an enjoyable “experience” for all involved.
