Jamie Foxx Remembers His Late Sister DeOndra Dixon On Her Death Anniversary In Heartfelt Tribute: ‘She Will Always Be Alive’

As a lifestyle expert who values the power of family and the importance of embracing one’s passions, I find myself deeply moved by the story of Jamie Foxx and his late sister, DeOndra Dixon. Her spirit radiates through every word spoken about her, from her brother’s heartfelt Instagram posts to the tributes paid by those who knew her.

Lately, Jamie Foxx paid tribute to his sister, DeOndra Dixon, on Instagram, marking the day she passed away.

Foxx conveyed the depth of his longing for her and the enduring affection he maintains. In his own words, “Every day finds us thinking about you. We understand that you are now in heaven, watching over us with a warm smile and leading us towards joy and happiness. I miss you dearly, my sister, and I continue to cherish you.

In the year 2020, DeOndra, who had Down syndrome, left us. At that time, Foxx publicly announced her passing, expressing that she had been a radiant source of light in their lives. He highlighted that although she physically departed, her spirit would remain an integral part of their family forever. In his words, “My beautiful, cherished sister DeOndra has moved on. I prefer to use the term ‘moved on’ because she will always be alive… anyone who knew my dear sibling understood that she was a beacon of light.

Ever since the seventh grade, DeOndra has been involved in the Special Olympics. Over time, she rose to become an ambassador for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation. Following her graduation from high school in 2002, she relocated from Texas to California to reside with Foxx and their sister, Deidra.

As stated by People, dancing held a profound lifelong interest for her. At one point, she expressed her ambition to become a dancer and seized every available chance to realize this aspiration. She made an appearance in Foxx’s music video “Blame It” from 2009, danced at his concerts, and even attended the Grammy Awards with him in 2020.

Foxx has consistently stood by his sister’s side and continues to pay tribute to her legacy by championing the cause of individuals with Down Syndrome. In November 2020, after her passing, he, alongside his family, launched the DeOndra Dixon Research Fund. This fund aims to tackle the under-addressed needs within the Down Syndrome community, a group that is frequently disregarded.

Pondering over DeOndra’s impact, Foxx expressed that she enlightened him on the essence of life. She showed him the importance of not getting bogged down by concerns regarding riches or possessions, but rather to embrace life with happiness, love, and a carefree spirit.
