Principal filming has concluded for the forthcoming thriller series from director James Wan, now known as Copenhagen, which stars Simu Liu, Melissa Barrera, Sinclair Daniel, Brian d’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien, and Kathleen Chalfant.
The show is classified as a futuristic spy thriller with sci-fi elements, taking place just five minutes from now. It centers around intelligence analyst Alexander Hale, portrayed by Simu Liu, who learns that his mind has been invaded, giving unidentified individuals the ability to view and hear everything he experiences. The series was acquired by Peacock in February 2024.
Principal photography for the Copenhagen series started on October 21, 2024, in Toronto and wrapped up on March 5, 2025, as reported by Film Updates. The series is projected to debut later this year, with Peacock taking charge of its distribution.
This show centers around Alexander Hale, a first-generation American working in intelligence analysis, who discovers his mind has been secretly tampered with. In a precarious position between his covert agency and enigmatic hackers, he treads cautiously to expose the deceit and demonstrate his allegiance.
As a dedicated fan, I’d like to highlight the intriguing characters in this production: I, myself, am following Melissa Barrera as Michelle, a character who skillfully keeps others on their toes with her deceptive nature. Sinclair Daniel steps into the role of Parker, an intelligence officer, who finds herself in unfamiliar territory and has to swiftly adjust to the new environment. Lastly, Brian d’Arcy James takes on the challenging character of John Moira, a mentor and boss who isn’t afraid to take tough decisions.
In this interpretation, Mark O’Brien steps into the character of Cobb, a determined intelligence operative, and Kathleen Chalfant assumes the part of St. George, an individual who concentrates on achieving strategic, future-oriented objectives.
In November, Sara Amini became part of the main cast in a significant recurring role as Ellie. Then, in December, it was announced that Saul Rubinek would also make an appearance on the show.
In simple terms, Thomas Brandon, the creator of “Legacies”, is responsible for its development, writes for it, and also holds the position of an executive producer. Jennifer Yale, known for her work on “Outlander”, shares the role of showrunner with Brandon and serves as an executive producer too.
James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett are serving as executive producers, collectively known as Atomic Monster, for the production of M3GAN. Simu Liu is also involved as an executive producer in this project.
Mark Winemaker and Jet Wilkinson serve as executive producers for this production, with Wilkinson taking on the role of director for the initial two episodes. This series is brought to you by UCP, a branch of the Universal Studio Group.
The production company Peacock hasn’t revealed the specific launch date for Copenhagen just yet, but since filming has wrapped up, it looks like we can expect this series to premiere towards the end of 2025.
