James Mangold Shares Update on ‘Dawn of the Jedi’, Confirms Co-Writing with Beau Willimon

As a seasoned gamer with a deep-rooted passion for both gaming and cinema, I can confidently say that the news of James Mangold directing a new Star Wars film has left me utterly thrilled! His past projects, particularly his work on The Book of Boba Fett series and Indiana Jones, have shown his knack for crafting compelling narratives with an epic feel.

The Star Wars universe is set to expand with numerous upcoming projects, such as a fresh movie trilogy, in addition to the popular series like “The Mandalorian” and “Grogu.” Furthermore, director James Mangold is busy crafting an exceptional standalone Star Wars film.

Initially, Mangold was slated to helm a Boba Fett movie influenced by Sergio Leone’s style following Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, but this eventually morphed into the “The Book of Boba Fett” series. Additionally, he was tasked with directing and collaborating on the script for “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

On April 7, 2023, during Celebration Europe, it was officially announced that Mangold would be directing a “Star Wars” movie focusing on the beginnings of the Jedi. This film, titled “Dawn of the Jedi“, will delve into the formation of the Jedi and the uncovering of The Force.

As a passionate enthusiast, I strive to infuse my work with an epic grandeur reminiscent of cinematic masterpieces like “The Ten Commandments” and “Ben-Hur.” Leveraging these timeless films, I endeavor to persuade Kathleen Kennedy at Lucasfilm of the movie’s immense potential.

I pondered on an epic tale reminiscent of biblical narratives, such as The Ten Commandments and the emergence of Star Wars’ Force. I found myself asking questions: Where was the Force born? When did we uncover it? When did we grasp its usage? And a narrative began to unfold on its own.

During a chat with Deadline, Mangold provided an essential update regarding the film. He mentioned that he along with Beau Willimon are still fine-tuning the script and have yet to complete the final version. As a result, the future plans remain uncertain. However, they are committed to wrapping up the draft before proceeding further with other aspects of production.

Together with my companion, we’ve been working on composing something. I’m unsure of what comes after since we haven’t yet reached the conclusion of this stage. At present, we are striving to complete a preliminary version.

Fans eagerly anticipate Mangold’s journey into an entirely fresh epoch of Star Wars on the big screen.
