James Gunn’s DCU ‘Clayface’ Delayed, Pushed To October 2026

James Gunn’s DCU just hit another scheduling snag, as Clayface has officially been delayed.

This change comes after the release of Lanterns was also delayed. However, Supergirl is still planned to come out in the summer of 2026, and James Gunn is preparing to begin filming Man of Tomorrow soon, with a target release date of 2027.

The update comes via Variety as Warner Bros. reshuffled several major release dates across its slate.

Clayface Delayed To October 2026

The movie Clayface was initially planned for release on September 11, 2026, but Warner Bros. has pushed the release date to October 23, 2026.

The upcoming film focuses on Clayface, one of Batman’s enemies, and presents him in a terrifying new way, drawing inspiration from the body horror style of director David Cronenberg. James Watkins directs, and the script is written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini.

Tom Rhys Harries plays Matt Hagen, an actor whose life is turned upside down by a terrible injury. He seeks help from a scientist, played by Naomie Ackie. The film’s producers include James Gunn, Peter Safran, Matt Reeves, and Lynn Harris.

The film’s release date now means it will compete with an upcoming Jordan Peele movie from Universal and the thriller Wife and Dog starring Rosamund Pike.

Warner Bros. Shifts Practical Magic 2

Because the film Clayface has been delayed from its original September release, Warner Bros. has scheduled Practical Magic 2 to premiere on September 11, 2026. The sequel brings back Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, and is directed by Susanne Bier.
