For the second time, my reporting that James Gunn will leave DC after the Warner Bros. Discovery sale is finalized has been confirmed – this time by Puck News.
In their new report, Puck writes:
Currently, James Gunn and Peter Safran are in charge of choosing directors for DC films at Warner Bros. However, if the Ellisons gain control, that could change.
What they’re saying now is simply confirming what I’ve been saying for months: James Gunn will lose his leadership role at DC as soon as Warner Bros. Discovery is sold.
Based on what I understand and as I initially shared with you, whoever ends up owning DC—whether it’s Paramount or Comcast—plans to replace the current leadership. James Gunn doesn’t appear to be included in those future plans.
After my first report came out, James Gunn started to doubt his own position at DC. This is the main reason he’s now focusing on the “Superman Family Saga” instead of working on the larger DC Universe as a whole.

Snyder Posts Photo With Jim Lee as DC Momentum Builds
Zack Snyder further intensified the ongoing discussion today by sharing a new photo on Instagram. The image features him with DC Comics’ Jim Lee – who holds the positions of President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer – and was accompanied by a caption.
I always love working with Jim Lee – he’s an exceptionally talented artist and has a fantastic grasp of the DC Universe. I really appreciate our collaborations and the inspiration he provides.
Zack included art of Superman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Darkseid (pictured below).
This announcement follows two months of Zack Snyder sharing character photos from his vision of the DC Universe – including Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Joker, Deathstroke, Mera, and Lois & Clark. This timing coincides with industry attention to our reports about significant changes happening at DC and Warner Bros.
Zack Snyder is making it clear that he was the driving force behind the most popular and well-known version of the current DC movies.

What We Told You: Gunn Out, Snyder Returning, Saudis Backing the Revival
My insiders have been consistent:
- James Gunn is out with the sale of WBD.
- Zack Snyder is returning to DC with the SnyderVerse.
- The Saudis are involved in backing both Paramount and Comcast bids.
That was the plan I published, and every day the industry moves a little closer to confirming it.

The SnyderVerse Cast Is Already Lining Up
I also reported the returning cast list Snyder wants for the restored SnyderVerse:
- Henry Cavill back as Superman
- Gal Gadot back as Wonder Woman
- Jason Momoa back as Aquaman
- Ray Fisher back as Cyborg
- Ezra Miller is “doubtful”
- Ben Affleck is “possible,” depending on physical demands
These names all connect to recent posts from Snyder on social media, specifically pictures of Cavill, Affleck, Momoa, Fisher, and characters featured in his ‘Knightmare’ storyline.
Snyder is quietly assembling the same roster he built a decade ago.

Everything Now Points in One Direction
Deadline and Puck confirm leadership changes are coming to DC.
Snyder continues posting old and new DC material.
Jim Lee is suddenly in the frame.
Saudi Arabia is pushing for large-scale, blockbuster-style DC movies, and they greatly admire Zack Snyder’s work. Their enthusiasm is significant – Prince Mohammed’s passion for gaming even led to a $55 billion investment in Electronic Arts.
And the WBD sale is imminent.
Everything indicates that the DC Universe plans led by Zack Snyder – the ‘SnyderVerse’ – are indeed returning, and the film industry is starting to recognize the potential of this direction.
