I was really interested to hear more after reading about the possibility of Donald Trump getting involved with Superman, and now it seems my suspicions were right! It’s becoming clear that the Trump administration is supporting Paramount Skydance in their attempt to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery – the company behind DC Comics, CNN, and HBO. I’d mentioned weeks ago that something like this could happen, and it looks like it’s actually coming true!
As reported by The New York Post, Paramount Skydance, led by David Ellison (whose father, Larry Ellison, is a long-time supporter of Donald Trump), is in a strong position as the government considers who will manage the media company.
If Skydance takes control, we’ve been told James Gunn is out.

Paramount Skydance Has Trump’s Backing
According to a high-ranking official from the Trump administration, the White House is paying close attention to who controls Warner Bros. Discovery.
According to the official, Warner Bros. Discovery’s board should carefully consider not only who is offering the most money, but also which potential buyer has a proven track record of completing successful deals – and in this case, that suggests the Ellisons are the most likely to succeed.
This news follows our recent report that Donald Trump publicly complimented Larry and David Ellison, referring to them as “friends” and “big supporters.” He previously approved their Skydance-Paramount merger, and now it seems this same partnership might acquire Warner Bros. Discovery.
Besides Disney, companies like Netflix, Amazon, and Comcast have also been mentioned as potential buyers, but they might face challenges from regulators under the Trump administration. Apple is also considered a possible contender.

Zaslav Running Out Of Options
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav began the process of selling off parts of the company this week, and current estimates value the assets at as much as $80 billion.
According to The Post, Larry Ellison has made three unsuccessful offers to buy the company, including one for $23.50 (though Deadline reports it was $24) per share. However, his next attempt could be a public offer made directly to shareholders, bypassing current management – a so-called ‘hostile bid’.
Experts believe David Zaslav is losing influence and support as the Department of Justice and Federal Communications Commission, under the Trump administration, prepare to review the deal. According to a source who spoke with The Washington Post, Warner Bros. Discovery needs to seriously consider whether the deal will be approved without the backing of Paramount and Skydance.

Why It Matters For DC And Superman
If Paramount Skydance succeeds in its bid, DC Studios and DC Comics would be managed by Ellison, who has the support of Donald Trump. This is expected to mean a change in direction for DC, moving away from content perceived as overly focused on social justice issues, and this shift is already beginning at DC Comics, as evidenced by their recent decision to stop working with trans writer Gretchen Felker-Martin.
David Ellison wants to put out good content and make money.
As previously mentioned, the Ellisons’ plan aims to bring Superman and other DC heroes back to their core values of truth, justice, and representing the best of the American spirit.
This likely means the end of James Gunn’s plans for the DC Universe, which has already received criticism for its creative choices, particularly regarding Superman and Peacemaker. Some viewers found Peacemaker offensive for its depiction of Jesus and its controversial comparison of our world to a Nazi-controlled one. Additionally, reports suggest Gunn’s DCU hasn’t been financially successful.
Reports suggest James Gunn won’t be at DC for long, and the new owners, the Ellisons, are planning a major overhaul of the creative direction. Mike De Luca is considered the leading candidate to head up DC Studios once that happens.
Confirming what we have said, Gunn recently questioned his future with DC.
