James Gunn has once again fueled speculation that Brainiac is the big villain of the DCU.

I saw the writer-director posted a picture of the script cover for *Man of Tomorrow* online, and it was really striking! It had this detailed anatomical drawing of a human head and brain on it – super cool and definitely hinting at a thought-provoking movie.

James Gunn announced the release date for the next *Superman* movie – July 9, 2027 – in a social media post featuring a devil and angel shaking hands, hinting at a conflict between good and evil. He captioned the post with the emojis and the hashtag #MoT 7.9.27.

Brainiac Hints?

Fans immediately noticed the image of a visible brain and think it’s a reference to the villain Brainiac.

There’s been talk for a while about which villain director James Gunn will use in his new DC Universe, and he recently revealed that the upcoming *Man of Tomorrow* movie will feature Superman and Lex Luthor teaming up to face a danger that’s even greater than themselves.
