In a short span of time, I completed all seven episodes. Interestingly enough, just as I was wrapping up these scripts, I was offered the position of co-head at DC Studios. Consequently, we were poised to launch “Creature Commandos”.

As the gamer immersed in the animated world of Harley Quinn, I, Dean Lorey, shared that during the creation of Creature Commandos, James Gunn remained deeply engaged. We made sure to keep him in the loop with voice recordings, animatics, and various stages of the production progress.

I oversaw the progress and guided it along, yet James played an active role throughout each stage. We shared with him the edited voiceovers, animatics, and all other materials, ensuring that James remained deeply involved in every aspect of the project.

The reason being, Creature Commandos continues right where Peacemaker left off, and there are direct references to incidents from Season 1 and The Suicide Squad scattered throughout the show.

Absolutely, they’re part of the lighter canon. The Peacemaker series is generally clear-cut, except for a brief cameo by a specific team [the former Justice League from DCEU] at the end. However, it’s important to note that this team doesn’t officially exist yet in the new DC Universe. Here’s the catch: If we introduce something from the past in one of the new DCU productions, then it is considered as having taken place. So, we’re handling it this way.

Gunn has mentioned exploring the idea of transitioning GI Robot into live-action, leveraging cutting-edge tech from Superman for implementation. Moreover, he hinted that the voice actors would perform their roles in live-action as well, ensuring continuity between the two mediums.

The goal is to maintain a consistent world, with the same political and power dynamics between characters, which will be explored more in Superman and Peacemaker.
