James Gunn Shuts Down Rumor of DC Studios Seeking a Middle-Aged Batman, Calling It “Bull****”

As a seasoned gamer and DC Universe aficionado with a decade-long journey through countless comic book adaptations, I find myself intrigued by this latest development. While I appreciate James Gunn’s clarification on the matter, the idea of a middle-aged Batman is not entirely out of the question, given his past statements about Bruce Wayne being older than Clark Kent in the DCU.

In approximately two months, we’ll see the formal debut of the DC Universe, marked by the premiere of the animated series ‘Creature Commandos.’ However, it’s important to note that while this is a significant step, the true beginning as mentioned by Gunn and Safran is ‘Superman,’ which is scheduled for release in 2025.

The lineup for the DC Universe is slowly coming together. So far, Superman, Supergirl, and a number of crucial Green Lantern characters have been chosen, yet as of now, we haven’t heard any updates about who might play Batman.

In the upcoming film titled ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ DCU’s version of Batman is set to make his appearance. This movie is based on the comic book storyline of the same name. Information about the project is limited, but most news concerning Batman originates from the Batman Crime Epic Saga Universe created by Reeves.

Lately, there’s been talk circulating that Gunn might be looking for an actor around middle age to play Batman, a notion that hasn’t gone down too smoothly with fans, who frequently propose actors such as Jensen Ackles and Allan Ritchson for the part.

Although the original post has been deleted from Threads, Gunn’s denial of the rumor remains.

Although the tale seems to be invented, there’s a hint of truth to it. Previously, Gunn has suggested that Batman might be older than Clark Kent in the DC Universe, implying that their ages don’t always have to match for the narrative to make sense.

It’s quite possible that I didn’t express myself clearly earlier. What I intended to convey was that Bruce might be a few years older than Clark, not necessarily stating it as an absolute fact. My statement aimed to emphasize that I wasn’t implying they were the same age, just possibly different by a couple of years.

The debate among enthusiasts persists regarding who might play ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ a production set to debut the Bat-Family within the DC Universe. It’s suggested that Bruce Wayne will likely be portrayed as being in his mid-thirties, thereby limiting the pool of suitable actors for the part.
