James Gunn has debunked recent rumors about The Batman Part II, stating they are completely false.
One of the heads of DC Studios addressed rumors online that Matt Reeves initially envisioned a down-to-earth version of Clayface for his next film, but had to switch villains after James Gunn featured the character in Creature Commandos.
The rumor also claimed this alleged shift caused delays in writing the script.
Gunn dismissed it outright.

James Gunn Responds on Threads
Replying to a fan on Threads, Gunn appeared baffled by where the rumor even came from.
Gunn expressed confusion and disbelief, questioning the source of the repeated content. He clarified that it was the same script that had been used all along.
That statement clashes with previous reports suggesting Reeves had to change or cancel his projects because of conflicts with the new DC Universe plans.
Gunn even later responded he only heard the rumor from the one fan.

No Clayface Conflict Between DCU and Reeves’ Batman
There was talk that Reeves was asked to drop the Clayface character because he first appeared in the Creature Commandos animated series, which is now part of James Gunn’s new DC Universe. However, Gunn says this isn’t true.
The Batman Part II will continue as its own separate story, not connected to the main DC Universe. James Gunn’s recent statement confirms that Matt Reeves has always had full creative control over his Batman films.
