Rumors are circulating that Paramount is acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery, and there’s more to the story than just that.
A recent report from Puck News suggests that the new owners of Warner Bros. Discovery are planning to overhaul the DC Universe and may do so without James Gunn involved.
That’s exactly what I told you.

Paramount Already Planning DC Projects Ahead of WBD Sale
Sources at Puck report that Paramount is starting to develop plans for DC projects, expecting the Ellisons to successfully acquire the DC assets from Warner Bros. Discovery.
Paramount executives traveled to Prague to try and convince writer-director Zach Cregger (known for Weapons and currently directing Resident Evil) to create a movie based in a specific part of the DC universe.
This is occurring while the deal is still pending, suggesting Paramount is acting as if the new Warner Bros. Discovery leadership – including James Gunn – won’t have much influence soon.

Zach Cregger’s DC pitch
So, I heard Zach Cregger actually had a DC movie idea he was hoping to take straight to James Gunn. But now it seems like Gunn either said no, or, more realistically, he just won’t be around long enough to even give it a look. Apparently, Warner Bros. Discovery is heading towards being sold, which throws everything into uncertainty.
In July, Cregger shared his idea for a DC movie set in Gotham with James Gunn. The Hollywood Reporter later said the project, called “Henchman,” was something Cregger had wanted to create for a long time.
I’ve heard the movie is about a small-time crook in Gotham who somehow manages to knock Batman out of commission. Suddenly, he’s got all the respect from other criminals that he’s always wanted! Apparently, Harley Quinn and the Joker are both in it too. The writer, Cregger, actually wrote the script before his recent hits, Barbarian and Weapons, and he thinks it’s his best work yet.
With Paramount planning to take over and James Gunn seemingly losing influence, Kyle Cregger’s ideas for DC might be presented to the new leaders in charge, rather than Gunn himself.

Puck: “Change May Be in the Wind” for Gunn
Puck states it plainly:
Currently, James Gunn and Peter Safran have the final say on who directs movies in the DC Universe at Warner Bros. However, if the Ellisons gain more influence, that could change.
Our same insiders who filled us in that Gunn is out also told us the SnyderVerse is back in play.
