James Gunn Hints at Upcoming DC Studios Project Involving The Huntress

As a lifelong DC Comics fan, I can hardly contain my excitement about James Gunn’s new project revolving around The Huntress! Growing up with a stack of comic books as tall as me, I’ve always had a soft spot for Helena Wayne (or Bertinelli), the Mafia-bred vigilante who turned her tragic past into a quest for justice.

James Gunn is constructing a fresh cinematic universe named DCU, set to supersede the previous DCEU. The DCU commenced with ‘Creature Commandos’, but according to Gunn and Safran, it’s the 2025 release of ‘Superman’ that will truly mark the beginning of the DCU.

Currently, the second season of “Peacemaker” is being made, while a fresh television series titled “Lanterns” is under development. This upcoming show will highlight three Green Lantern characters: Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Hal Jordan.

It’s been confirmed that the production of “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” will kick off in January 2025, with an expected release in 2026. Gunn emphasized that even if a project is scheduled for release, it doesn’t guarantee it will actually be released. This is because Gunn prefers to have a finalized script before starting production, and if the script falls short of expectations, the project might not proceed.

As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that alongside the action-packed adventures of Supergirl, we’ve got some exciting new projects in store. These include Paradise Lost, The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, an upcoming Teen Titans film, a movie about Bane and Deathstroke, a Booster Gold TV series, Waller, and a Swamp Thing flick. Can’t wait to dive into these stories!

It’s evident that much is upcoming. Yet, during his latest chat on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast hosted by Josh Horowitz, James Gunn hinted at a fresh endeavor centering around The Huntress.

Initially, our intention was to bestow recognition upon the iconic figures such as Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman, who are renowned for their greatness. However, we also aimed to shine a spotlight on less famous characters like Peacemaker, Booster Gold, and The Huntress.

In the world of DC Comics, we find The Huntress, who is alternatively known as Helena Wayne (or Bertinelli). Originating from a Mafia background, her life took a drastic turn following the tragic death of her family. Now, she dedicates herself to upholding justice as a relentless vigilante.

As a seasoned gamer, I wield my agility and martial arts expertise in close quarters, while my trusty crossbow provides long-range support against criminal threats. Frequently, I join forces with iconic figures like Batman and the Avian Crusaders – the Birds of Prey – to protect our city from danger.

For the very first time, we’ve come across the prospect of this potential project, and it stirs up great enthusiasm within us! What makes it even more enticing is Gunn’s dedication to showcasing less popular characters on the silver screen, a passion that truly excites us.

As a dedicated fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the potential progression of the Huntress project. If it does indeed move forward, it seems likely that we might need to patiently wait for the arrival of “The Brave and the Bold” series first. This is due to her profound connection with Batman, a crucial aspect of both their stories.
