As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for DC Comics and a knack for discerning fact from fiction, I can’t help but feel a tinge of skepticism when it comes to these industry rumors. I’ve seen my fair share of superhero films that started with buzz only to end up as duds. But the hype surrounding James Gunn‘s DCU and the upcoming Superman film has me intrigued, to say the least.
Warner Bros. has faced challenges when it comes to their DC Comics characters, notably trying to rival Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU). After Zack Snyder’s interpretation of the DC Universe faltered, they opted for a fresh perspective. In steps James Gunn.
Upon assuming control, Gunn decided to restructure the DCEU, which was in a chaotic state, opting for a daring move to start anew. This novel approach has been dubbed the DC Universe (DCU). The initial significant film within this new cosmos will be the forthcoming Superman movie. In this production, David Corenswet will embody the role of Superman, with a scheduled release date early next year.
There’s been plenty of chatter about this undertaking, yet specifics remain sparse. Although Gunn has given us some insights, there’s still a wide space for speculation – whether it leans positive or negative. A more recent conjecture hinted at potential issues with the VFX team of the Superman film, and James Gunn felt compelled to respond.
The much-anticipated debut of the Superman movie is drawing near. Lately, we’ve caught glimpses of the film’s initial footage and images, and truth be told, there’s a lot of buzz about it. At first glance, the movie looks like it could deliver, although trailers can sometimes deceive us. Given what we know now, it appears that Superman is poised for a powerful debut.
However, it’s worth noting that Gunn continues to maintain a degree of secrecy, which often fuels speculation and rumors. Some of these whispers can take a negative turn, like the one we’re about to present.
The SUPERMAN trailer look good to me, but later that night, I heard from an industry insider that there’s some trouble behind the scenes…

Given the circumstances, it’s no surprise that many questions arose within the community, leading them to ponder if there may indeed be problems with the film and what exactly those problems entail. However, Sneider disclosed some insights, suggesting that the movie appears to have troubles in its Visual Effects (VFX) department. In fact, Gunn has reportedly dismissed several of his VFX team members due to subpar performance.
Since James Gunn often interacts with fans, some of them directly asked him about the situation. The director has comforted everyone by stating that there’s been no trouble in the Visual Effects (VFX) team, and he has dismissed Sneider’s speculation as untrue.

Phew, I’m relieved! It’s great to hear that Gunn has squashed those rumors, so the movie is still on track. Can’t wait to see it!
