James Bond’s Death in ‘No Time to Die’ Leaves Amazon’s Creators Scrambling

James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing significant problems as filmmakers plan the next installment, according to sources at RadarOnline.com.

In a first for the 60-year-old James Bond franchise, Daniel Craig’s version of the character died on screen – after being poisoned by tiny robots and then struck by a missile.

According to someone involved with the film, the writing team is scrambling to fix a major plot problem. James Bond was definitively killed on screen – completely destroyed – which was a huge error. The character is meant to be indestructible, and now they’re struggling to come up with a way to bring him back that makes sense, and it’s proving incredibly difficult.

Anthony Horowitz, who has written official James Bond novels, also questioned how the filmmakers will explain Bond’s return. He pointed out that the last film ended with Bond seemingly killed – poisoned and destroyed in an explosion – and wondered how the new movie would address that definitive death.

I believe that film was a misstep because James Bond is an iconic character who transcends any single portrayal. He’s a timeless figure, except for how he was presented in that particular movie. If I were tasked with writing the script now, I wouldn’t even know where to begin. You can’t simply reset everything with a ‘it was all a dream’ scenario; it doesn’t fit the character.

Horowitz also mentioned he’s never been involved with the films, and wasn’t particularly interested in being. He explained that working in that industry requires a lot of resilience, and he feels content staying away from it.

The next James Bond film is shaping up with a talented creative team. Steven Knight, the mind behind Peaky Blinders, is collaborating with director Denis Villeneuve, famous for Dune. They’re joined by producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, who previously worked on the Harry Potter and Paddington movies.

According to someone close to the production, the team made a huge mistake by eliminating a character who was thought to be invincible. Now, they’re struggling to fix it without ruining the story they’ve already built.
