IO Interactive has delayed the release of its new James Bond game, 007 First Light. It will now come out on May 27, 2026, instead of the previously planned March timeframe. IO Interactive, the studio developing the game, announced the change directly.
The studio announced a delay to allow the development team more time to polish the game before it’s released. IO Interactive confirmed the game is currently playable from beginning to end, but they want to ensure it meets their high quality expectations. They aim to launch the best possible version of the game, and plan to share more updates in early next year.

James Bond is back in video games with 007 First Light, ending a decade-long absence. The game is developed by IO Interactive, the studio behind the popular Hitman series, which has generated a lot of excitement. Fans are hoping this will be the modern Bond game they’ve always wanted, one that truly captures the spirit of the character.
This new game features a fresh story and a young James Bond who is still developing his skills as an agent. According to the narrative director, Martin Emborg, this inexperience reflects the overall direction the Bond franchise is heading. Early gameplay reveals a focus on quick, exciting action, stealth, and classic spy activities.
The movie’s cast is generating buzz, with Patrick Gibson starring as James Bond and musician Lenny Kravitz playing the villain. Lennie James, Kiera Lester, Alastair Mackenzie, and Priyanga Burford also appear in the film.
