Jake Paul, a social media personality and boxer, caused an uproar on Sunday by asking his fans to change the channel during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show. He posted the suggestion on X, encouraging people to avoid watching the performance.
Okay, so this person was really upset about the halftime show and called for a boycott. They were saying we, as viewers, need to send a message to big corporations – that they can’t just do whatever they want without facing some kind of fallout, and that fallout is us not watching. Their big issue was the performer, who they felt wasn’t a true American and publicly expressed negativity towards the country. Basically, they were saying we have the power to make a statement by simply turning off our TVs during the halftime show and refusing to support something they disagreed with.
Let’s make a statement to large corporations by intentionally skipping the halftime show. Remember, your viewership is what drives their success, and you have the power to influence them. By turning off the show, we can show them that their actions have consequences. This is especially true in the case of a performance that feels inauthentic or unrepresentative of American values.

Jake Paul has continued a pattern of criticizing Bad Bunny, following similar comments from his brother, Logan Paul. Back in 2022, Logan criticized the singer in an interview, pointing out what he saw as hypocrisy: Bad Bunny, who is from Puerto Rico and lives there, was reportedly using a tax program while publicly speaking out against it.
This came after Bad Bunny released his documentary, El Apagón – Aquí Vive Gente, which looked at how the arrival of wealthier people – drawn by tax breaks – was leading to rising costs and forcing long-time Puerto Rican residents to leave their homes.
In an interview with Graham Bensinger, Logan Paul explained that he and his brother moved to Puerto Rico in 2021 to take advantage of tax benefits.
Jake Paul has recently faced criticism for his views on immigration and the police. He posted on X (formerly Twitter) that people who dislike Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shouldn’t call 911 for help, and those who don’t respect law enforcement shouldn’t rely on them. He then responded to Billie Eilish’s criticism of ICE at the 2026 Grammys by sarcastically calling her “Billie Eyelash” and suggesting she would call ICE for help if her home was burglarized.
Jake Paul’s comments have quickly gotten a lot of attention from both fans and the media. He’s known for making bold statements – like his recent criticism of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show and other celebrities – and he often uses social media to create discussion and, sometimes, controversy.
