M. Night Shyamalan is preparing for his next major venture, and he’s collaborating with a popular novelist this time around. The director has partnered with Nicholas Sparks to produce a romantic thriller with a supernatural twist, with Jake Gyllenhaal slated to play the lead character.
M. Night Shyamalan and Brendan Sparks are separately creating unique interpretations of the same narrative. Shyamalan is penning the script, while Sparks is composing a book inspired by the same concept.
In a departure from his usual solo creative process, Shyamalan is now teaming up with another storyteller from the get-go, having previously adapted Paul Tremblay’s novel, “The Cabin at the End of the World,” into “Knock at the Cabin.
The movie is set to be made by Shyamalan’s company Blinding Edge Pictures, together with Theresa Park (a longtime collaborator of Sparks) and producer Marc Bienstock. Sparks himself will also have an executive producing role. Currently, no studio has been officially confirmed, but it’s said that negotiations are taking place with Warner Bros. for a possible theatrical release.
actor Gyllenhaal maintains an upward trajectory with significant roles. Most recently, he featured in the contemporary remake of the iconic action film, “Road House,” which garnered popularity as a streaming success on Amazon Prime Video. Additionally, he spearheaded the Apple TV+ series adaptation of “Presumed Innocent,” which landed him a Golden Globe nomination.
Up next, he’s planning to share the spotlight with Denzel Washington on Broadway in the play “Othello“, and you can look forward to seeing him in upcoming films such as “The Bride!” directed by his sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal.
For close to two decades, M. Night Shyamalan has significantly impacted the film industry, with his movies amassing a staggering total of over $3 billion globally. His newest suspenseful film, titled “Trap“, featuring Josh Hartnett, was another triumph during the summer season.
Currently, Nicholas Sparks continues to be a globally recognized author, having sold more than 130 million copies of his novels worldwide. His latest work, “Counting Miracles“, made its debut at the top of the New York Times bestseller list and is now being transformed into a movie by Amazon.
