As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the recent incident involving Jack Black and Kyle Gass from Tenacious D has been quite an eye-opener. It’s always fascinating to see how the actions of public figures can have such far-reaching consequences, especially when humor is involved.
Last month, Jack Black and his band partner, Kyle Gass, were touring with their group Tenacious D in Sydney. During the Spicy Meatball Tour, Kyle Gass had a birthday celebration on stage where he was given a cake and invited to make a wish.
Famous for his mischievous humor, the band member playfully blew out the candles and quipped, “Hope you don’t miss Trump next time,” alluding to the attempt on Donald Trump‘s life. This joke had significant consequences for his career, causing a political uproar and ultimately ending their tour prematurely. Senator Ralph Babet of the United Australia Party has issued a statement calling for their immediate deportation from the country.
Following the intensification of the matter, Gass issued a public apology on Instagram (which has since been removed). Similarly, Black apologized for being taken aback by the comments made during the performance, cancelled the tour, and suspended any further band activities. Their future plans remain undecided for now.
On the thrilling night of August 6th at the LA premiere for Borderlands, I was utterly ecstatic to hear Jack Black himself confirm to Entertainment Tonight that our beloved Tenacious D is gearing up for another round of rockin’ adventures!
The actor shared that they needed a pause, but his fondness for “D” is undeniable – everyone needs a rest occasionally. He added with enthusiasm that they would return. Notably, he was adorning the iconic necklace from the movie Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny, which represented the pick symbolizing power in the film’s band.
In his public apology, Black expressed that he disapproves of hate speech or any form of political violence. He further appreciated his fans for standing by him during the turbulence. Similarly, Gass acknowledged on his since-deleted post that his comment was inappropriate and a regrettable mistake.
The pair encountered a significant obstacle, causing fans to question if Tenacious D would ever return or not. Fortunately, they will resume their activities following an essential hiatus! This band was established in 1994, and Jack Black and Kyle Gass have produced four studio albums throughout the years, including the 2001 album titled Tenacious D, the 2006 release The Pick of Destiny, the 2012 record Rize of the Fenix, and the 2018 album Post-Apocalypto.
