J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books, recently shared that her favorite movie in the series is surprisingly *Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1*. She told Reuters this film is particularly meaningful to her, which might come as a surprise to fans.
“I absolutely love this movie – it’s definitely my favorite. I’m really excited to watch it again tonight, as I’ve only seen it one time,” she said.
J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books tell the story of a young wizard named Harry who learns he has magical powers and goes to Hogwarts, a school for witches and wizards. Throughout his adventures with friends Hermione and Ron, Harry overcomes difficult obstacles that challenge his courage, friendships, and sense of right and wrong, ultimately leading to a showdown with the evil wizard Lord Voldemort.
Released in 2010, *Deathly Hallows: Part 1* is the seventh movie in the series and was directed by David Yates.
This movie follows Harry, Ron, and Hermione as they leave Hogwarts and embark on a perilous quest to find and destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes – objects holding fragments of his soul. Unlike previous films focused on school life, this one is a much darker and more intense fight against evil, building towards the epic conclusion in *Part 2*.
The world of Harry Potter has become much more than just the original books and movies. It now includes spin-off films like the *Fantastic Beasts* series, the stage play *Harry Potter and the Cursed Child*, plus theme parks and video games.
Viewers have been sharing their enthusiasm for *Deathly Hallows: Part 1* online. One fan posted, “This movie is the best I’ve ever seen! I just finished the whole series last week, and it was amazing – I didn’t want it to end!”
One of the best trailers I’ve seen this decade is the official trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2010).

One viewer raved, “This is the best movie I’ve ever seen! I absolutely loved it. Splitting the single book into two films was a brilliant decision. Huge congratulations to Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, and everyone who worked on this – it turned out wonderfully. David Heyman, you nailed the ending of the first part, it was a real thrill ride! And thank you, J.K. Rowling, for writing such a fantastic book.”
Rowling’s selection emphasizes how significant the first book was to the overall story, demonstrating its impact as the series became more intense and risky. Because she’s suggested she might return to the Harry Potter universe someday, fans are excited to see what new adventures might be in store.
