In a straightforward discussion about his absence from the famous series, Broderick stated, “Every time there was a part I could play, I couldn’t take it, was essentially the story.” Although he was offered roles on Sex and the City, Broderick acknowledged that some of the characters presented to him, such as one with premature ejaculation, didn’t resonate with him. “It’s just a bit awkward,” he admitted, explaining his reason for declining such offers.
In his own words, Broderick highlighted the fact that although his wife was the star as Carrie Bradshaw, the show’s team always demonstrated a high level of professionalism by not pushing him to be part of the cast. However, he confessed his regret: “If only I had been in it or given it a try.” In the end, he believed that the show truly belonged to Parker and thought that his presence might have overshadowed her brilliant on-screen performance.
The pair who tied the knot back in 1997 have maintained a lasting bond, equally captivating audiences onstage and off. They’ve collaborated in numerous productions, one notable example being their joint performance of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway. Parker frequently expresses her admiration for Broderick, describing him as “the funniest” and “the most striking man I’ve ever laid eyes on.
