‘IT: Welcome to Derry’ Gets October Release Date On HBO Max

The premiere for “IT: Derry” has been officially scheduled. It’s been confirmed by HBO that the “IT” prequel series will debut on October 26th, streaming on Max.

It seems that since the unveiling of the second intriguing teaser trailer for the show last month (feel free to take another peek below), we’ve been granted more insight into the chilling world of Stephen King’s IT, delving deeper into the origins of the terrifying Pennywise the Clown.

The Story

The show is set in the 1960s and focuses on the town of Derry, Maine prior to the incidents depicted in both “IT” and “IT Chapter Two”. This series is inspired by Stephen King’s original novel and expands upon the movies directed by Andy Muschietti.

Who stars?

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the “IT: Derry” series sees the return of Bill Skarsgård in his chilling role as Pennywise the Clown. Joining him in this terrifying journey are newcomers like Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, and Rudy Mancuso.

Behind the series

The show is created by HBO and Warner Bros. Television, with a narrative from Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, inspired by Stephen King’s novel titled “IT”.

The executive producers are Andy and Barbara Muschietti under their Double Dream label, alongside Jason Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Bill Skarsgård, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin. Fuchs and Kane will serve as co-showrunners, with Fuchs also writing the script for the premiere episode’s teleplay.
