‘It Was The Ultimate Let Down’: Machine Gun Kelly Celebrates His Sobriety, Credits Daughter Casie For Turning Point

As an ardent fan, I can’t help but be deeply moved by Machine Gun Kelly‘s heartwarming story of love and transformation. His journey from the turbulent world of substance abuse to becoming a dedicated father is nothing short of inspiring. The moment when his 15-year-old daughter, Casie, confronted him about his struggles with alcohol and drugs must have been a turning point in his life. It’s a testament to his strength and courage that he chose to break free from the chains of addiction not just for himself, but also for Casie.

Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) has revealed that his fifteen-year-old daughter, Casie, played a significant role in helping him choose sobriety. Known as Colson Baker in real life, MGK shares Casie with his ex, Emma Cannon.

In the August 18th edition of the Million Dollaz Worth of Game Podcast, the 34-year-old rapper opened up about a pivotal discussion he shared with his child that led him to give up alcohol and narcotics.

He explained that Casie told him she could always tell when he was drunk or high, which deeply touched him and made him realize how much she had been disappointed in him. By then, Casie would have been around eleven or twelve years old.

He said, “It broke my heart. It was the ultimate letdown.”

In my journey as a lifestyle expert, I’ve come to understand firsthand the formidable challenge of overcoming addiction. It wasn’t easy; it was a relentless battle to extricate myself from the ruinous clutches of substance abuse. Yet, what propelled me forward was the indelible image of the father I longed for during my tumultuous childhood. I yearned to be that man for my daughter, and this unwavering desire became my driving force in breaking free from my addictions.

He emphasized, “To ensure that I become the kind of father I wished my own father could be, it’s crucial for me to break this ongoing family pattern for my child’s sake.”

Back in early August, I proudly announced on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast that it’s been a full year since I embarked on my sobriety journey. I felt compelled to share my story and talk about my past struggles with mental health and substance abuse. Reflecting on the last year, I can say that I’ve chosen to abstain from alcohol, and I even had my first stint in rehab in August of the year prior.

The musician also confessed to having abused alcohol, and marijuana, alongside some pills too.

In July, Kelly provided a glimpse into his role as a parent, delighting his followers. On Instagram, he posted heartfelt birthday wishes for Casie, highlighting their unique relationship. One of the images showed the father-daughter duo standing under an arch festooned with pink heart balloons, with ‘HBD CASIE’ spelled out above in balloons. He conveyed that when he gazes upon her – “the princess” – it seems as if time freezes.

“The world spins but when i look at you it stops. Happy 15th princess”, he captioned.

As an over-the-top enthusiast, I can’t help but share that Machine Gun Kelly has graced us with glimpses into his precious moments with his daughter, Casie. He’s captured memories like fixing his iconic Mohawk or strumming his guitar, which feels like a peek behind the curtain of his personal world. Fast-forward to more recent times, we see them bonding at a basketball game, unwinding on the beach, and revving motorcycles together – moments that make us fans feel closer to their unique connection.
