As a lifestyle expert reflecting on the captivating journey of E.G. Daily, I am consistently amazed by her multifaceted talent and unwavering hustle. From voicing Tommy Pickles to gracing our screens as Leslie in Friends, she effortlessly transitions between dimensions, leaving an indelible mark wherever she goes.
Every day, you might recognize her as the voice behind Tommy Pickles from Rugrats, yet she left a lasting impression on Friends as well, playing Leslie, Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow)’s former musical companion and rival, in the episode known as “The One with Phoebe’s Ex-Partner.”
In this particular episode, a woman named Leslie, who once struggled as a songwriter for jingles, performs at Central Perk – a well-known gathering place from Friends. Spotting Phoebe in the audience, she recalls their past partnership. Initially, Phoebe was reluctant, but Leslie managed to persuade her that they could make an exceptional singing duo.
Yet, their time together concludes prematurely! After Phoebe demonstrates the famous Smelly Cat tune for her, Leslie proposes using it as an advertisement jingle. Despite Phoebe’s hesitance, she sells their song and once more damages their friendship in the process.
During an interview with People, the actress, who is now 62 years old, reminisced about the incident as a fun yet thrilling journey, from the audition process to the filming. She also mentioned that at the time of receiving the audition call, she had just given birth.
In response to an unexpected phone call from her agents, who asked if I could rush over to Warner Brothers for a last-minute audition at eight o’clock, Daily explained that she didn’t have the opportunity to arrange childcare due to the short notice. As any resourceful mom would do in such a situation, she took care of things herself.
She remembered, “I carried the baby in a small cradle-like carrier called a bassinet, while holding my guitar with the other hand, and I walked to the parking lot.” Daily had placed the baby in the car seat, strummed his guitar, and sang some tunes, and they responded, “You’ve got it.”
On the following day of the shoot, she found herself immersed in a colossal production that was the set of Friends. It’s like jumping right into the deep end as it runs so smoothly; you’re simply thrown in. The actress who lent her voice to Buttercup from Powerpuff Girls shared her experience of having to gather her wits and concentrate due to the numerous details she had to manage, such as memorizing her lines, understanding the stage directions (blocking), singing, and playing the accompanying songs.
“She mentioned that there were numerous parts which left her no time to attend to them all; instead, she needed to concentrate. Moreover, she expressed pride in the work she accomplished during the show. This actress is known for her voiceover work and has amassed a significant fanbase on TikTok. She is a mother to Hunter Daily, 28, and Tyson Daily Salomon, 25.”
